    A Library Card gives you access to so much more than our incredible collection of books.

    With your card you can borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, Chromebooks, hotspots—even snowshoes! You can sign up for programs and use services including printing, the Makerspace, the Recording Studio, or a meeting room or study space.

    Best of all, getting a Library Card is absolutely free!

    You can check out two items at a time.

    • Valid Ontario photo ID with current address
    • No current ID? Bring the following: photo ID (i.e., passport) AND one of the following: a piece of official mail, utility bill, voter registration card, etc. with your current address

    Replacement costs are as follows:

    • Full device: $383.00
    • Mouse: $12.00
    • Power adapter: $88.00
    • Bag: $22.00

    Items can be borrowed for one week

    A Lendery is a collection of items you can borrow for your home, projects, and adventures. A Lendery, also known as a "Library of Things," provides free access to equipment, technologies, and experiences that foster learning within our community.

    We have a reciprocal borrowing agreement for Whitchurch-Stouffville residents with the following libraries, so you can get a Library Card without paying non-resident fees:

    • Richmond Hill
    • Uxbridge
    • Vaughan

    We do not renew Interlibrary Loan materials.

    You will have to pay the amount charged by the lending library for any lost or damaged materials.

    There is no fee for borrowing materials with Interlibrary loans, but there is a $8.00 service fee if materials are not picked up

    Requests can take 3-6 weeks to fill but there is no pre-determined timeframe. We cannot guarantee an item will be received by a certain date.

    The loan period varies depending on the items and any restrictions made by the lending library. Please check the assigned due date for your borrowed materials

    Customers can borrow print materials only including Fiction, Non-fictions and Large Print

    Each customer is allowed up to a maximum of 2 materials per month.

    Items borrowed from the Adventure Zone can be checked out by the same patron for up to 7-days, but may be returned earlier. Items cannot be renewed.

    Patrons lending from the Adventure Zone must be 18+ years of age. Each adult library card can check out up to 3 bikes at a time, so parents can check out a bicycle for their child.

    Currently, we have the following items available to lend:

    • 20 Trek Marlin 4 Bikes (adult sizes Xs, Sm, Med, Lg)
    • 20 Bike Helmets (sizes S/M, M/L, XL)
    • 20 Bike locks
    • 20 Bike light sets
    • 2 Tri-cycles
    • 2 Tri-cycle scooters
    • 2 Co-pilot bike trailers/strollers
    • 4 Fishing rods and kits

    All other sports equipment, appliances, toys, etc. are available at the lendery inside the library.

    The Adventure Zone is an outdoor extension of our library lendery where you can borrow bikes and outdoor equipment with your library card!

    Yes! You may use an anonymous guest account to log into the Chromebooks instead. Please note that some features will be unavailable without a Google account. Ensure that all documents and files are stored in an online account or on external storage media such as a USB stick. After every shutdown or session logout, the Chromebook performs a full factory reset, wiping all data from it. This helps to ensure your personal information does not remain on the device. 

    Yes! You can log in with your own account. Please ensure all your documents and files are saved within your Google account or on external storage, as the device will perform a full factory reset after every shutdown or session logout.     We have included some brief setup and usage instructions with each Chromebook.

    No. Chromebooks will be deactivated if they are past the due date.

    Snowshoes can be borrowed and returned within the Library during our Hours of Operation

    You can borrow four (4) pairs of snowshoes per Library Card.

    Patrons will be charged overdue fines of $2.00/day for snowshoes.

    Each pair of snowshoes can be checked out for 7 days. 

    You will need your library card and to complete and sign our snowshoe lending agreement.

    Copies of the snowshoe lending agreement will be available at the service desk or you can print one from the link below and fill it out at home before coming to pick up your snowshoes.

    Please note that limited quantities of snowshoes are available.

    For eBooks the library offers Cloudlibrary and EBSCO eBooks. If you are looking for magazines and newspapers we offer PressReader and Cloudlibrary NewsStand.

    Tablets, smartphones and Adobe Digital Editions-compatible eReaders can all be used to download and read eBooks. Devices using Windows, Mac, Android and iOS operating systems are compatible and among the most commonly used.

    WSPL offers free WiFi.

    Look for the network WSPLguest on your device. No special settings, usernames or passwords are required.

    You’ll need to accept our terms of use to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

    The cost for printing and photocopying is $0.50 for colour per page ; $0.25 for black and white per page. Scanning is free.

    Faxing services are available using the public copier. The cost for faxing is $1.20 per page.

    Yes, If you are 16 years of age and up a guest pass can be made to login to a computer.

    Two Blackburn Copilot bicycle trailers are available to borrow to transport your smallest family members. You can also borrow a bicycle helmet if you do not own one. Our helmets are Specialized Align II models in sizes XL, M/L, and S/M.

    All bicycles are 2023 Trek Marlin 4s. They are available in frame sizes L, M, S, and XS. All bicycles are equipped with water bottle cages, cable locks with keys, kickstands, bells, and reflectors.

    Bicycles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is because weather conditions and other factors could affect your desired pickup time

    Bicycles can be borrowed and returned at the Library's Adventure Zone station in the parking lot of the Leisure Centre. You can check online to see what bicycles and other accessories are available before your visit.

    Adults age 18+ can borrow one adult bicycle and up to two children's bicycles per Library Card.

    All you need to borrow a bicycle and its accessories is your valid Library Card. Don't have a card yet? Visit the Using the Library page to find out more about what to bring to get your Card. Before you ride away for the first time, you will sign a waiver that we keep on file for future bicycle borrows.

    2. Visit the Adventure Zone during the open hours (bring your library card!)
    3. Sign the Lendery Agreement waiver if this is your first time borrowing from the library lendery
    4. Sign a bike condition agreement

    You can submit a Suggest a Purchase Form. There is an option to suggest something specifically for The Lendery.

    Items cannot be renewed

    Replacement fees are determined by the individual item borrowed

    Late fees are charged at $2.00 per day.

    Holds are held for 10 days

    You can pick up your holds in-person at the library. Books are filed by last name on a public holds shelf. Nintendo Switch games, Wi-Fi Hotspots, and park passes are held at the checkout

    When an items is held and ready for pick up you will receive an email notification or a phone call if you do not have email notifications set up with us

    If you’re unable to renew your books, CDs, DVDs or other materials, your account may be blocked, you may have reached the renewal limit or someone else may have the title on hold. Your account is blocked if you have an outstanding balance exceeding $10 on your account.

    Items can be renewed at the self checkout stations as well as the any of the service desks. Or you may renew items yourself at any time by logging in to your account and or by phone call at 905-642-7323

    You may renew materials up to 10 times, if not on hold

    If an item is lost or damaged you will be charged the cost of the item, plus a $5 processing fee and any overdue fines owed for the items. Once paid for, the item belongs to you. If a lost item has been paid for and subsequently found, a refund may be requested within six months of the billing date. The lost library materials must be returned undamaged.

    Fines can be paid at the library using cash, credit, or debit. Any fines under $5 must be paid with cash at the service desks
