What We’ve Heard So Far

Public Open House at Maker Festival
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, we hosted a Strategic Plan Public Open House as part of the Stouffville Library’s Maker Festival, a vibrant community event celebrating creativity, innovation, and local talent.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees were invited to visit our Strategic Plan booth, where they could share their thoughts and ideas about the future of Stouffville Library. This drop-in engagement opportunity allowed us to connect with community members, providing space for meaningful conversations around our evolving role in the town.

Teen Engagement - Stouffville District Secondary School Visit
We also connected directly with teens at Stouffville District Secondary School (SDSS) during their lunch break. This outreach allowed us to meet students where they are and hear their ideas. Our booth featured interactive activities, all designed to spark conversation and creativity while raising awareness of the Library’s future direction.
We were thrilled by the enthusiasm and thoughtful input from the students. Their ideas touched on everything from new programming and collections to how the Library can better support learning, creativity, and social connection for youth.

Teen Engagement: TAG (Teen Advisory Group) Input Session
On Friday, May 23, 2025, Stouffville Library hosted a special Teen Input Session as part of our regular Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meeting, giving local youth a dedicated space to share their ideas for the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan.
This in-library session was an opportunity for teens ages 13–19 to speak directly with Library staff about what matters most to them. Through guided activities and open discussion, participants shared creative ideas around space improvements, programming, volunteer opportunities, and ways the Library can better support youth interests and needs.
We were thrilled with the turnout and the level of engagement. The feedback we received is helping to shape how we prioritize teen services in the years ahead.

Staff Development Day – Internal Engagement Session
As part of our Staff Development Day, we held a dedicated Strategic Plan engagement session. This was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from our team, the people who work every day to serve the community and deliver meaningful programs, services, and support.
Through guided discussions and interactive feedback activities, staff shared their perspectives on how the Library can evolve to better serve the public. Insights included ideas on innovation, internal collaboration, community connection, and creating a more inclusive and accessible library environment.
Staff input plays a crucial role in shaping our strategic plan to make it both visionary and practical. Their ideas helped ensure the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan reflects not only the needs of the community, but also the internal expertise and lived experience of the people behind the scenes.
We’re grateful for their honest feedback, collaborative spirit, and ongoing commitment to the future of Stouffville Library.

Keep an eye on the Library’s website and social media for updates on our strategic planning process and how you can get involved. Remember to take our survey!
